Community Service / Volunteering

Sir John Cass Sixth Form College runs an extensive Community Service programme in which students are given opportunities to participate in a number of projects both inside and outside of school.

At Sir John Cass Sixth Form College we encourage students to ‘give something back’ to the local community. We run a programme alongside World Wide Volunteering in which students are given the opportunity to develop the skills required to be a successful volunteer before gaining the support required to find a suitable placement. In addition, we have outside links set up with Toynbee Hall, Oxford House, The Bengali Football Association, Stepney Farm and The Ragged School Museum to name a few.

We have an ambassador team of over eighty students across Years 12 and 13. The ambassadors participate in a number of activities within school, including Parents’ Evenings, Parents’ Forums, Open Evenings and School Tours, playing an integral part in the set up and running of such events. This is seen as a very prestigious role amongst students and staff, and has given all involved a number of opportunities to gain valuable experiences in preparation for university, apprenticeships or employment.
