Curriculum

With the support of enthusiastic, dedicated and experienced staff, Sixth Form students are expected to take more responsibility for their own learning. Our curriculum is flexible and up to date, with a balanced variety of academic and vocational courses to suit all interests and abilities. These range from A level programmes in the Social Sciences, Languages, Business and Commerce, through to the Humanities, the Sciences and the Arts. Study options are chosen with great care and attention to individual need:

  • All students are thoroughly interviewed to assess strengths, interests and career options.
  • All students attend open evenings, special Year 11 assemblies and taster lessons. In–depth information on all subjects is always available.

ICT is taken very seriously at Sir John Cass Redcoat School and we expect all students to continue to develop their skills across the whole curriculum. The Sixth Form has excellent ICT facilities. Our industry-standard software is continually updated and all students have internet access and individual e-mail accounts. Online and video conferencing is also available for distance learning on some subjects.

Sir John Cass and Redcoat has special status as a Language College, reflecting the excellence of our facilities and teaching, as well as our commitment to providing opportunities for language skills development across the whole curriculum. We offer a rich variety of language study, with careful consideration of careers and higher education opportunities, maintaining close links with partner schools all over the world. Externally accredited courses at our free twilight evening classes are also open to Sixth Form students, their parents and our community, as well as opportunities for residential visits abroad, including France, Spain and The Oman.
