Expected basic GCSE requirements – five grades D–E at GCSE.
Description Of The Subject
GNVQ art and design is a practical course, which offers students the opportunity to develop their skills in a wide range of areas. It is an excellent preparation for any one interested not only in a career in art but also in a wide range of industries such as commercial design, fashion, textiles, video production, media, publishing, advertising and crafts.
What You Will Do
Students take four compulsory units
- 2D and 3D visual language
- Materials, techniques and technology
- Exploring others' work
- Working to a brief.
Students also take two optional units.
The assignments will reflect the tasks that a professional artist or designer would undertake. Students will learn how to use their imagination, ingenuity and initiative and to organise their time and plan their work efficiently.
Future Prospects
Employment in design-related industries and other areas as above and further study at advance level.
