Qualification To Start The Course

No prior learning in the subject is necessary, however students need to have 5 grades A*–C at GCSE including English and mathematics or Level 2 Business at merit or above.

Description Of The Subject

This is a vocationally related qualification designed to facilitate employee contribution to working conditions in business organistaions. It provides knowledge of business activity and helps develop skills commonly required by business organisations. All work is assessed through coursework assignments. Units 3 and 5 will be assessed externally via an integrated vocational assignment set by Edexcel. All other units will be assessed internally.

A three point grading scale of pass, merit and distinction is applied to all internal units. This qualification is equivalent to two A levels at A–C therefore successful students will obtain a double award (eg PP, MP, DD).

What You Will Do

The course consists of five compulsory core units and seven specialist units as follows:

  1. Introduction to business (core unit)
  2. Business and management (core unit)
  3. Creative product promotion (core unit)
  4. Presenting business information (core unit)
  5. Business enterprises (core unit)

The specialist units will be selected by the teachers. These will cover a range of topics including finance, marketing, human resources, health & safety as well as business law.

There are many organisations seeking to employ people with business knowledge and skills.
