Qualification To Start The Course
Applicants will be required to pass an entry test. Expected basic GCSE requirements for advanced level study – i.e. five grade A*–C at GCSE. You must have gained at least a B – grade in Science Double Award or separate sciences. It is highly desireable that you have studied the higher level GCSE mathematics course and obtained an A or B grade.
Description Of The Subject
Pysics provides an understanding of basic physical processes which forn the basis of modern science, technology and engineering. It provides opportunities to apply the knowledge of physics to dealing with everyday problems. The course is taught with the help of practical work designed to support your understanding of the concepts as well as the acquisition of laboratory skills.
What You Will Do

AS Level
- Unit 1 - Mechanics and radioactivity
- Unit 2 - Electricity and thermal physics
- Unit 3 - Topics and practical test: topics consist of solid materials, engineering materials, nuclear and particle physics, medical physics and X-rays & ultrasonics
A2 Level
- Unit 4 - Waves and our universe
- Unit 5 - Practical test
- Unit 6 - Fields and forces test
- Unit 7 - Synoptic test (terminal)
